Lincoln National Park is located at the southern tip of the Eyre Peninsula and overlooks Boston Bay, the largest natural harbour in Australia. It’s a popular destination in South Australia for hiking, bird watching and fishing.

In the 1940s, the park was established as a flora-fauna reserve. Unique wildlife thrives amid coastal shrubs and mallee eucalypts.

Lincoln National Park Location

Lincoln National Park can be found on the east tip of South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula. It covers most of the Jussieu Peninsula. The Spencer Gulf and the Southern Ocean border the park. It is 15 mins away from Port Lincoln and 7.5 hours from Adelaide.

How to get there

By Car

You can find the entrance to Lincoln National Park 15 minutes (13km) south of Port Lincoln on Proper Bay Road. The drive via Port Augusta from Adelaide is quite a distance at 664km and takes approximately 7.5 hours.

By bus

The same route takes you to Adelaide. A Stateline Bus service costs $125.40. takes less than 10 hours. This will drop you off at Port Lincoln, where you’ll need to take a taxi to the park entrance.

By Ferry

You can shorten your driving time by taking the ferry from Wallaroo to Lucky Bay, close to Cowell. It takes about 2 to 2.5 hours to cross the gulf and runs once per day. The ferry will cut about an hour off your drive and cost $237 per vehicle and 2 people each way.

By plane

You can fly directly with QantasLink or Rex from Adelaide to Port Lincoln in just 45 minutes. Although this is the fastest route, we enjoyed our trip down the Eyre Peninsula. We highly recommend it.

Entry Fees

$12 per vehicle, or $10 for a valid concession. Camping fees will be added to the park entry fee.

Am I required to have a 4WD for Lincoln National Park?

Lincoln National Park is accessible without requiring 4WD. You can easily access many campgrounds, beaches, and walks with a 2WD vehicle. A 4WD vehicle is the best option in Lincoln National Park. It allows you to visit Memory Cove.

Lincoln National Park: Are dogs allowed?

Unfortunately, no. Dogs aren’t allowed in Lincoln National Park, so your furry friends should be at home.

Are You able to fish in Lincoln National Park?

There are many great spots for fishing in Lincoln National Park. Fishing is possible from virtually any bay or cove within the park. If you own a 4WD, you can also fish for Australian salmon at Millers Hole and Salmon Hole on the Sleaford–Wanna Track.
